What is a Resin-filled stone slab?
A Resin-filled slab refers to a stone slab that has undergone a gluing process-either back-reinforcement with adhesive or surface filling/patching-during production.
It represents a crucial intermediate stage between the raw block and the finished polished slab; the quality of the gluing directly impacts the slab's structural strength and visual appearance.
In the industry, "Resin-filled slab" (also known as Resin-treated slab or Epoxy filled slab) refer to natural marble(and other stone) slabs that have been treated after cutting. Transparent epoxy resin is brushed or injected onto the face, penetrating cracks and pores; the slab is then cured, ground, and polished. This is a standard repair and processing technique for natural stone-it is not engineered stone or composite paneling stone.

⚠️ Distinguishing between three easily confused terms
1. Resin-filled Slab:
- Resin fills surface cracks and voids; the stone body remains intact, with resin merely patching the fissures.
2. Back-meshed Slab:
- Fiberglass mesh and resin are applied to the *back* of the slab for reinforcement only; no resin is applied to the face.
3. Composite Slab:
- A thin layer of stone is bonded to a substrate (such as ceramic tile or aluminum honeycomb); this involves bonding two distinct base materials and is completely different from a glued slab.

Why apply resin?
Many natural marbles feature fine cracks, "chicken-foot" fissures, and micropores (especially in luxury stones, Statuario, and Carrara/Jazz White varieties):
- Filling cracks and voids with resin **reinforces the slab, reducing the risk of breakage** during processing and handling.
- Sealing micropores reduces susceptibility to staining, moisture absorption, and efflorescence.
- Polishing results in a more translucent, lustrous finish; cracks become invisible to the naked eye, enhancing market appeal.
