Stone Cassani Abrasive
Professional Manufacturer of Cassani Abrasive Tools
The term "Cassani Abrasive Block" originates from the Cassani brand of floor grinding machines (Italian).These blocks—available in willow-leaf, triangular-fan, and kidney shapes—are specialized consumables designed for heavy-duty walk-behind floor renovators and marble/terrazzo floor grinders. They are distinct from the T105 Frankfurt (horseshoe) Abrasive Blocks used on automatic marble processing lines and the L140 Fickert Abrasive Blocks used for granite.
We supply high-quality Cassani Abrasive
Structural Design: They come in three structural configurations:
1-Monolithic solid block:
No base plate; molded entirely from abrasive material (available in magnesite, oxalic acid, or resin-bonded versions).
2-Plastic base with inlaid segments:
A rigid plastic fan-shaped base with multiple metal-bond diamond segments inlaid on the surface (specifically for coarse grinding and leveling).
3-Welded type:
A metal base plate with metal-bond grinding segments welded onto it.
Compatible Equipment
Cassani, Achilli, and Bofanti machines; domestic heavy-duty walk-behind floor grinders (250/300 models) and marble floor renovators. They are not compatible with automatic slab polishing lines and are intended solely for on-site floor renovation and grinding.
Standard Procedure for Complete Marble Flooring Treatment
- Metal-bonded diamond Cassani abrasive (coarse grinding/leveling) →
- Magnesite-bonded silicon carbide Cassani abrasive (transitional refining) →
- Resin-bonded Cassani (medium-fine polishing) abrasive →
- Oxalic acid Cassani abrasive (final brightening and yellowing removal)
Comprehensive Scope of Application
Compatible Materials / Flooring
- Diamond / Magnesite Cassani blocks: Terrazzo, concrete, granite flooring, aged stone flooring, flat tombstone surfaces.
- Resin / Oxalic Acid Cassani blocks: Beige marble, Nero Marquina (Black & White Root), travertine, limestone, engineered marble, high-end interior stone flooring.
❌ Prohibited:
- Oxalic acid Cassani blocks must not be used on granite or concrete; steel-wire consumables must not be used with Cassani equipment to grind soft marble.
Applicable Scenarios
- Refurbishment and mirror-finish restoration of marble flooring in hotels, shopping malls, and villas;
- Overall grinding and leveling of terrazzo and cement flooring;
- Antique/matte finish treatment for outdoor granite flooring;
- On-site repair and polishing of tombstones and small stone countertops;
- Refurbishment of stone flooring in older properties (scratch removal, stain/yellowing removal, and brightening).
Incompatible Scenarios
- Fully automatic continuous polishing lines for large stone slabs (require specialized Frankfurt or Brula abrasive blocks; base mounts are not interchangeable); small handheld angle grinders.
Classification
In terms of structure, we can categorize them into three types.

Material: fan-shaped base + sintered metal-diamond segments (primarily 5 rectangular segments); features coarse-grit diamond and a high-cobalt metal bond.
Grit Range: 16#, 24#, 36#, 46#, 60#, 80#
Core Functions: Leveling uneven floors, removing scratches during old floor renovation, grinding concrete floors, and rough grinding terrazzo blocks; offers extremely strong cutting power, capable of removing thick layers of adhesive or damaged surface material in a single pass.
Compatible Materials/Floors: Terrazzo, concrete, high-hardness granite, old marble flooring, and flat-surface restoration for tombstones.
Advantages: Long wear life (40,000–60,000 m²); resistant to high temperatures and heavy loads; maintains stable cutting performance during 24-hour renovation projects.
Limitations: Produces coarse, deep grinding marks; requires subsequent fine grinding to enhance the finish and cannot achieve a mirror-like polish on its own.

2-Resin Bond Diamond Cassani Abrasive

Material: Integrated molding of modified phenolic resin and ultrafine diamond powder; offers elastic cushioning.
Grit sizes: 400#, 600#, 800#, 1200#
Functions: Refines fine scratches, produces a uniform mirror-like gloss (90–100°), and eliminates "orange peel" texture.
Applications: Fine polishing of marble, travertine, engineered quartz, and terrazzo flooring.
Advantages: Soft texture; minimizes the risk of burning or blackening light-colored stone; enhances the clarity and definition of natural veining.
Limitations: Prone to pulverization and rapid wear if used dry or at high temperatures; lacks leveling or stock-removal capabilities.
(Economical Transition Model)
Material: Magnesium oxychloride (magnesite) binder + black silicon carbide (SiC); solid, one-piece fan-shaped grinding segment; contains no diamond.
Grit sizes: 120#, 180#, 240#, 320#, 400#.
Function: Transitional refining after coarse grinding; removes deep scratch marks left by metal segments and levels the floor surface.
Compatibility: Standard marble, terrazzo, and engineered stone flooring; entry-level floor restoration.
Pros & Cons: Very low unit price; short lifespan (1,000–3,200 m²), requiring frequent segment replacement during high-volume production.

4-Casaní Oxalic Acid Polishing Block

Specialized for final buffing and brightening
Composition: Organic flexible binder + high-purity oxalic acid crystals + alumina micropowder; solid yellow fan-shaped block; contains no diamond abrasives.
Main Models: 5 Extra (removes yellowing and stains), 10 Extra (ultra-bright mirror finish).
Polishing Mechanism: Combines physical micro-abrasion with oxalic acid chemical neutralization; dissolves yellow spots, watermarks, and oxidized white haze on marble surfaces, creating a uniform, translucent, and glossy finish.
Compatibility: Suitable only for carbonate stones such as marble, travertine, and limestone; ineffective for brightening granite or concrete.
Advantages: Resolves issues like surface whitening and color inconsistency after polishing; essential for the final finishing of marble floors in high-end hotels.
Limitations: Lacks stock-removal capability; must be used after resin polishing pads; insufficient water supply during use can lead to the formation of white residue spots.

FAQ
Q: What’s the difference between cassani block and frankfurt abrasive?
A: Cassani fan-shaped blocks fit portable floor renovation machines for on-site ground repair; Frankfurt horse-shoe blocks are for factory automatic marble slab polishing lines, they cannot be interchanged on different equipment.
Q: Can oxalic acid cassani be used on granite floors?
A: No. Oxalic acid only reacts with calcium carbonate marble & travertine, no brightening effect on siliceous granite and concrete.
Q: What is the service life of metal diamond cassani block?
A: Under sufficient water cooling for terrazzo & marble floor: 40,000–60,000 sqm per set of diamond segments, much longer than magnesite and oxalic cassani blocks.
