Marble Diamond Flexible Polishing Pad

Marble Diamond Flexible Polishing Pad

Designed for soft stones with low hardness and high brittleness—such as marble, travertine, limestone, and jade—Cheefung diamond flexible polishing pads utilize high-performance resin materials. This ensures the pads are sharp and durable while remaining flexible enough to avoid scratching the stone's crystalline structure.

Description
Technical Parameters

Our marble exclusive flexible polishing pads are made of super soft transparent resin and fine diamond grit, specially engineered for fragile marble, travertine, limestone and onyx. The highly elastic matrix absorbs grinding shock to greatly avoid slab edge chipping, ideal for thin marble slabs and carved decorative lines. Optimized heat dissipation prevents yellow foggy marks on light-colored marble during wet polishing, delivering soft transparent mirror finish without scratching natural stone grain. Standard 4-inch velcro-backed design, wet & dry versions for stone factory production and on-site renovation.

This flexible diamond polishing pad is specifically formulated for soft stones with low hardness and high brittleness-such as marble, travertine, limestone, and jade. Designed to be used in conjunction with diamond profiling wheels, it achieves a mirror-like finish on marble countertops, decorative moldings, and stair treads (both curved and flat surfaces). It effectively addresses three major challenges: edge chipping, yellowing caused by high heat, and surface staining or hazing.

  Product Structure

  • Polishing Resin Layer: Combines low-hardness, high-elasticity transparent resin with ultra-fine diamond particles; the gentle formulation prevents scratching the crystals of soft marble. Includes thermally conductive cushioning fillers to eliminate heat-induced yellowing or hazy white edges on light-colored marble.
  • Thickened Flexible Cushioning Layer: Offers significantly higher elasticity than granite or engineered stone polishing pads; conforms to curved surfaces, intricate carvings, and thin marble slabs while effectively absorbing grinding impact.
  • Velcro Backing: Nylon self-adhesive backing compatible with M14 and 5/8-11 angle grinder backing pads, allowing for quick grit changes.
  • Standard Specifications: 4-inch (100mm) for general use; 3-inch for door surrounds and detailed carvings; 5-inch for large-area floor polishing.

  Standard Grit Set (Skipping grits is strictly prohibited for marble)
Marble has a soft texture; skipping grit numbers can leave permanent, uneven scratches. Here is the breakdown for the standard 7-piece progressive grit set:

Grit Process Stage Function in Marble Processing
#50 / #100 Coarse Grinding Pads Removal of coarse tool marks Eliminates deep grooves from brazed/sintered profiling wheels, saw marks, and surface irregularities/unevenness.
#200 / #400 Medium Transition Pads Smoothing coarse textures Softens deep scratches from coarse grinding, unifies surface texture, and prevents pitting or depressions.
#800 / #1500 Fine Grinding Pads Matte softening Removes micro-scratches, creates a smooth matte base, and preserves the marble's natural, soft veining.
#3000 / #6000 Mirror Polishing Pads Soft-glow mirror finish Produces a translucent, soft high-gloss finish without an artificial, oily sheen; restores the marble's natural, warm texture.

  Key Advantages of the Cheefung Marble-Specific Series
1 Ultra-flexible backing; drastically reduces edge chipping and corner breakage

  • The soft resin composition absorbs vibration and impact when grinding curved surfaces, thin slabs, or intricate carvings. Compared to rigid granite grinding pads, the risk of edge chipping is reduced by 70%, making these essential consumables for processing thin marble slabs and complex profiles.

2 Low-hardness, gentle formula; prevents scratching soft marble crystals

  • Diamond particles are evenly embedded in soft resin, resulting in low cutting resistance. This prevents scratching the soft carbonate crystals of the marble, ensuring no hairline scratches appear on light-colored varieties like Beige, Volakas (Jazz White), or Statuario (Fish Maw White).

3 Resistant to high-temperature yellowing and hazing; ideal for light-colored marble

  • Marble has poor heat resistance; standard grinding pads used dry or with insufficient water often cause edges to yellow or develop a white haze. The resin features excellent thermal conductivity, facilitating rapid heat dissipation during water-cooled processing; it ensures no yellowing or loss of gloss during long-term, high-volume processing of white or beige marble.

4 Transparent, light-colored resin that does not stain the stone.

  • Free of dark fillers; processing pure white or light beige marble results in no black or yellow stains or surface discoloration.

5 Polished finish offers a warm, soft texture that faithfully reproduces natural marble veining.

  • The polished surface is refined and translucent-avoiding the harsh, glaring shine typical of granite-while perfectly preserving the soft, warm, natural veining of the marble; an ideal choice for high-end home interiors and villa marble finishes.

6 Available in both wet and dry versions.

  • Wet-grinding version (preferred for factory mass production): Longer lifespan, minimal dust, superior polishing results; designed for use on production lines with a steady water supply.
  • Dry-grinding version (for on-site repairs or sites without water access): Made from modified, heat-resistant soft resin; suitable for countertop repair, refinishing, and edge rounding (best for short-duration, light-duty tasks).

   Standard Processing Workflow for Marble Countertops

  1. Rough Shaping: Use a vacuum-brazed diamond profiling wheel to mill the desired profile (Full Bullnose, Half Bullnose, or French Ogee).
  2. Rough Leveling: Use #50/#100 soft polishing pads specifically designed for marble to remove deep milling marks and level out surface irregularities.
  3. Progressive Refining: Grind sequentially through #200 → #400 → #800 → #1500; do not skip any grit levels.
  4. Mirror-Finish Polishing: Final polish with #3000/#6000 to ensure uniform gloss across both flat surfaces and rounded edges, achieving a soft, translucent luster without haziness.

  Applications

  • Rounding and polishing edges for residential marble kitchen islands, bathroom vanities, and bay window sills;
  • Fine polishing of carved marble moldings for feature walls, as well as European-style decorative edges for door and window surrounds;
  • Anti-slip rounding and profiling for marble stair treads and corridor skirting boards in hotels and shopping malls;
  • Precision processing of shaped panels, including thin marble slabs, translucent jade, travertine, and limestone;
  • Scratch repair for existing marble countertops, stone restoration, and on-site edge modification;
  • Fine polishing of marble handicrafts, tombstones, and small stone carvings.

  Compatible Equipment

  • Handheld stone angle grinders with M14 threads (standard in China and Europe);
  • Edge routers/trimmers with 5/8-11 threads (North American market standard);
  • Benchtop profile edge-polishing machines and small stone CNC machining centers.

   Usage Precautions

  1. Ensure continuous, ample water cooling; dry grinding for extended periods is strictly prohibited, as high heat can rapidly soften the resin and cause permanent yellowing or scorching of the marble edges;
  2. Maintain light pressure and a steady feed rate throughout the process; excessive pressure can deform the polishing pad and cause edge chipping or unevenness;
  3. When processing ultra-thin marble slabs, prioritize the use of thickened, high-elasticity pads to further minimize the risk of edge chipping;
  4. Proceed through the grit sequence from coarse to fine; skipping grit sizes can leave behind stubborn micro-scratches, resulting in a hazy, dull finish on the final product.
