"Luxury stones" typically feature a soft carbonate marble base (Mohshardness 3–4). Traditional metal-bond Frankfurt abrasive blocks often leave deep, coarse, and permanent scratches that are impossible to remove during subsequent polishing stages. Furthermore, the grinding process with traditional metal-bond blocks generates copper and iron dust; given the porous nature of luxury stones, these metal particles can penetrate the surface and cause staining, such as unsightly rust spots. This specific metal-bond Frankfurt block features a design with two solid metal segments and utilizes a specialized bond formulation tailored to the characteristics of luxury stones, effectively overcoming the drawbacks associated with conventional metal-bond abrasives.

(Metal-bond Frankfurt Abrasive Block for Luxury Stone)
Development of this abrasive block is complete, and it is currently being used in stone processing plants in Shuitou with excellent results; the product has now entered mass production. If you require metal-bond Frankfurt blocks for luxury stone processing-or if you have struggled with the flaws inherent in standard metal-bond abrasives-please leaveyour contact details, and we will provide you with a professional stone grinding and polishing solution.

Key Considerations for Processing Luxury Stone Slabs
1 Significantly Reduce Grinding Head Pressure
While standard granite processing uses pressures of 3.5–5 bar, luxury stone requires strict control at a lower range of 2.0–2.5 bar. Excessive pressure forces diamond abrasives deep into the slab surface, creating coarse, deep scratches; areas with varying mineral hardness are particularly prone to exacerbated gouging and scratching.
2 Increase Conveyor Belt Speed
Increase the slab feed speed by 20%–30% compared to standard granite production. This shortens the contact time between the abrasive segments and the stone, reduces the material removal rate per pass, and prevents the accumulation of scratches.
3 Ensure Ample, Uniform Water Cooling (Essential)
- Increase the water spray volume independently for each grinding head to completely flush away detached diamond particles and metal swarf.
- If debris remains trapped between the abrasive segments and the slab surface, it causes "rolling abrasion," resulting in dense, dotted scratch patterns.
- Strictly prevent localized dry grinding due to water shortages; high temperatures can cause debris to adhere to the slab surface, deepening scratches and scorching the stone's base color.
4 Regularly Calibrate Grinding Disc Flatness
Ensure the thickness variance among all metal abrasive segments on a single disc is ≤0.1 mm. Uneven thickness causes thicker segments to exert concentrated pressure, creating long, streaky scratches with alternating light and dark marks.
